How to Use

Weigh out your soy wax flakes and melt in a double boiler or wax melter, heating gradually to around 70–75°C / 158–167°F. Once fully melted, remove from heat. Add candle dye first if using, stir until fully dissolved. Add fragrance oil at around 60–65°C / 140–149°F — a typical fragrance load is 6–10% by weight of wax. Stir gently for 2 minutes. Allow to cool slightly to around 55–60°C / 131–140°F before pouring into prepared containers. Leave undisturbed until fully set (minimum 24 hours for soy wax). Trim wick to 5–7mm before the first burn.

How much wax do I need per candle?
A rough guide: soy wax fills approximately 20% more volume than its weight due to density. For a standard 200ml jar candle, you need approximately 160–180g of wax. The 250g pouch makes approximately 1–2 standard jars; the 500g makes 3–4; the 1kg makes 6–8. Test pour your specific container first to confirm.

Can I add fragrance oils to this wax?
Yes — this soy wax accepts fragrance and essential oils. A standard fragrance load is 6–10% by weight of wax — for 250g of wax, that’s 15–25g of fragrance oil. Add fragrance at around 60–65°C for best throw. Exceeding 10% may affect the set and surface finish of the candle.

Can I add dye to this wax?
Yes — this wax is compatible with candle liquid dyes, dye chips, and powder dyes. Add dye to the fully melted wax before adding fragrance oil, and stir until the color is fully dissolved and even.

Why does my soy candle have a frosted or rough surface?
Frosting and rough tops are natural characteristics of soy wax — they don’t affect burn performance. To minimize frosting, pour at a slightly lower temperature (around 50–55°C) and allow candles to cool slowly at room temperature away from drafts. Pouring in a warm room helps.

Is soy wax better than paraffin?
Soy wax is a natural, renewable, and biodegradable alternative to paraffin. It burns more slowly and cleanly than paraffin, producing less soot, and has a lower melting point which makes it easier to work with at home. It also has excellent fragrance throw when the correct fragrance load and pour temperature are used.
