Frequently Asked Questions
Are these glass or plastic?
These are clear plastic (polystyrene) — not glass. They are lightweight and thin-walled, which lets the color of your wax show through beautifully. Standard tealight cups are always plastic; glass tealight holders are a separate accessory used to display the finished candle.
Are the wicks already in the cups?
Yes — each cup comes with a pre-tabbed cotton wick already seated in the metal tab at the base. No additional wick prep is needed.
What wax works best for tealights?
Paraffin wax is the traditional choice for tealights as it gives a smooth, hard finish and excellent scent throw. Soy wax also works well and gives a softer, more natural look. Avoid very soft waxes or high-oil blends as they may not set firmly enough in a shallow cup.
Can I add fragrance and color?
Yes — add fragrance oil at 6–10% of wax weight and liquid or block candle dye as desired. Because the cups are clear, colored wax looks especially striking when displayed in a tealight holder.
Can these be used in a standard tealight holder?
Yes — the square format fits most open tealight holders and lanterns. For a snug fit in round holders, choose a round tealight cup instead.
