How to Use

Align the two mold halves together and secure firmly with the binder clips. Stand the mold upright on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Insert a wick pin or pre-waxed wick through the designated wick point. Pour melted pillar wax at the appropriate temperature for your wax type (typically 60–68°C / 140–155°F for paraffin pillar). Allow to cool fully at room temperature — do not refrigerate. Top up any sinkholes as the wax contracts. Once fully set, remove the binder clips and carefully peel the silicone halves away from the candle. Trim the wick to 5–7mm before burning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wax should I use for these molds?
Use a pillar wax blend — paraffin pillar wax, beeswax, or a firm soy pillar blend. Standard container soy wax is too soft for freestanding figurine candles and will not hold the shape at room temperature. Beeswax produces particularly sharp detail reproduction in silicone molds.

How do I prevent seam lines on the finished candle?
Ensure the two mold halves are pressed together firmly and the binder clips are tight before pouring. Pour slowly to avoid disturbing the seam. Any minor seam line can be smoothed after demolding by gently warming the seam with a heat gun on a low setting and smoothing with a finger or soft cloth.

Can I add fragrance oil to the wax?
Yes — add fragrance oil at the recommended usage rate for your wax type (typically 6–10% by weight). For figurine candles where the surface detail is the main feature, a light fragrance load (6%) is recommended to avoid surface sweating that can obscure fine detail.

Which style is best for a beginner?
The Cherub Resting — Small is the easiest starting point as it uses a simpler one-piece mold with no seam alignment required. Once comfortable with the demolding process, the two-piece molds are straightforward to use.

Can I use these for soap making?
Yes — these silicone molds work well for cold-process and melt-and-pour soap. The detailed relief translates well in soap. Note that cold-process soap generates heat during saponification — ensure the mold is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface during curing.
