Frequently Asked Questions
Are dye chips the same as liquid dye?
Dye chips are a solid form of the same wax-soluble dye. They dissolve fully into hot wax just like liquid dye, leaving no particles behind. They are easier to store, have a longer shelf life, and are less likely to spill than liquid dyes. The finished color result is comparable.
Will dye chips clog my wick?
No — as long as the chips are fully dissolved before pouring, they will not clog the wick. Always check for clarity before pouring (see How to Use above). Undissolved chips left in the wax can cause wick issues.
How much dye do I use per pour?
One 5g bag colors approximately 1,200g of soy wax to a medium tone. Use less for a pastel effect, more for a deeper, richer color. Start conservatively and add more dye to reach your desired shade.
Can I mix colors?
Yes — dye chips from different bags can be combined in the wax to create custom colors. Keep notes on your ratios to reproduce shades consistently.
Do these work in soy wax?
Yes — these dye chips are compatible with soy wax. Soy wax has a naturally creamy base that can soften lighter shades slightly compared to paraffin. Test a small pour first to check your final color.
