Wax Temperature Guide

Use this thermometer to monitor the following key temperatures during candle making:

  • Soy wax melt point: 50–55°C (122–131°F) — wax is fully liquid above this range
  • Max heating temperature: 80–85°C (176–185°F) — do not exceed; overheating degrades soy wax and can cause discoloration
  • Fragrance addition temperature: 65–70°C (149–158°F) — remove from heat and allow to cool to this range before adding fragrance oil for best scent throw
  • Pour temperature: 55–65°C (131–149°F) — pour into containers at this temperature to minimize sinkholes and surface cracking
  • Paraffin wax melt point: 46–68°C (115–154°F) depending on grade
  • Beeswax melt point: 62–65°C (144–149°F)

How to Use

  1. Turn on the thermometer using the power button.
  2. Insert the stainless steel probe into the melted wax in your pouring pot. Do not submerge the body of the thermometer — only the metal probe should contact the wax.
  3. Hold in place for 3–5 seconds until the reading stabilizes.
  4. Use the Hold button to freeze the reading if needed before removing.
  5. Wipe the probe clean with a dry cloth or paper towel after each use. Allow to cool before storing.
