How to Use
- Prepare: Fix a wick sticker to the base of each tin or container. Press a tabbed wick into place and center it using the centering bar or bow-tie clip.
- Melt: Add soy wax or beeswax flakes to the pouring pitcher. Melt using a double-boiler method (place the pitcher in a pot of simmering water) or on an electric hot plate (not included). Use the thermometer (Set 1) to monitor temperature — soy wax typically melts at 70–85°C.
- Add fragrance & color: Once melted, remove from heat and allow to cool to 65–70°C. Add fragrance oil and stir gently for 1–2 minutes. For colored candles, add a dye chip/block and stir until fully dissolved.
- Pour: Pour the wax slowly into each tin or container. Leave to cool at room temperature — do not move until fully set (2–4 hours).
- Trim & burn: Once set, trim the wick to 5–7mm. Your candle is ready to burn.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which set is best as a gift?
All three sets come in a gift box. Set 2 is the most striking gift option thanks to its decorative patterned colored tins. Set 1 is best for someone who wants to seriously explore candle making — the range of fragrances, dyes, and molds gives the most creative options. Set 3 is a thoughtful budget-friendly gift for a curious beginner.
Do these kits include a hot plate or heat source?
No — a heat source is not included in any set. You can melt the wax using a double-boiler on a kitchen stove, or with a separate electric hot plate. If you need a hot plate, see our Candle Making Kits with Hot Plate.
What is the difference between soy wax (Sets 1 & 3) and beeswax (Set 2)?
Soy wax is a popular beginner choice — it has a lower melt point, throws fragrance well, and produces a clean burn. Beeswax (Set 2) is a natural wax with a subtle honey scent, a higher melt point, and a longer burn time. It does not require added fragrance as it has its own natural aroma, though you can add fragrance oils to it if desired.
