Wax Temperature Guide

Use the TP300 to monitor these key temperatures during candle making:

• Soy wax melt point: 50–55°C (122–131°F)
• Max heating temperature: 80–85°C (176–185°F) — do not exceed to avoid discoloration
• Fragrance addition temperature: 65–70°C (149–158°F) — remove from heat and cool to this range before adding fragrance oil
• Pour temperature: 55–65°C (131–149°F) — pour at this range to minimize sinkholes and surface cracking
• Paraffin wax melt point: 46–68°C (115–154°F) depending on grade
• Beeswax melt point: 62–65°C (144–149°F)

How to Use

1. Power on using the On/Off button.
2. Insert the long probe into your wax pouring pot. Only the metal probe should contact the wax — do not submerge the body.
3. Hold in place for 3–5 seconds until the reading stabilizes on the LCD display.
4. Press Hold to freeze the reading before removing the probe if needed.
5. Wipe the probe clean with a dry cloth after each use. Allow to cool before storing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this differ from your other candle making thermometer?
This is the TP300 model with a longer probe (14.5cm) and white body — better suited for deeper pouring pitchers and larger wax pots. Our other thermometer has a shorter probe and black body, and is priced slightly lower. Both have °C/°F switching and a hold function.

Can I use this for soap making or other crafts?
Yes — the TP300 is suitable for monitoring temperatures in soap making (lye and oil temperatures) and general craft use. Do not use the same probe for food after contact with candle dyes or fragrance oils.
