How to Use

Stand the mold upright on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Thread a pre-waxed wick through the base wick hole and seal with mold sealer putty, or use a wick pin to create the wick channel after demolding. Secure the wick at the top with a centering stick or bar. Pour melted pillar wax at the appropriate temperature for your wax type (60–68°C / 140–155°F for paraffin pillar; 55–60°C / 131–140°F for beeswax). Allow to cool fully at room temperature — do not refrigerate. Top up any sinkholes with a second pour. Once fully set, peel the silicone mold away from the candle. Trim the wick to 5–7mm before burning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which size should I start with?
The Cylinder 5x9cm is the most versatile starting point — it produces a classic tall pillar candle that’s a standard gift size. The 5x5cm and 6x6cm squat cylinders are popular for heavily scented candles where a wider melt pool is desirable. The 2x2cm is ideal for sample or favor candles.

Can I use container soy wax in these molds?
No — container soy wax is too soft for freestanding pillar candles and will not hold its shape at room temperature. Use a dedicated pillar wax blend: a hard paraffin pillar wax, beeswax, or a firm soy pillar blend specifically formulated for molded candles.

How much wax do I need per mold?
Approximate wax quantities: Cylinder 2x2cm — ~15g; Cylinder 4x4cm — ~80g; Cylinder 5x5cm — ~100g; Cylinder 5x9cm — ~155g; Cylinder 6x6cm — ~170g; Cylinder 7x12cm — ~400g; Hexagon 6x9cm — ~200g. Always melt slightly more than needed to allow for a top-up pour.

Can I add fragrance and color?
Yes — add candle dye to fully melted wax and stir until dissolved before adding fragrance oil at around 60–65°C. A standard fragrance load for pillar wax is 6–8% by weight. Exceeding 8% can soften the wax and may cause the candle to lose its shape or sweat.

Can I use these molds for soap or resin?
Yes — these silicone molds work well for cold-process soap, melt-and-pour soap, resin casting, plaster, and concrete. The smooth interior produces a clean, professional finish across all materials.
