How to Use

Place the mold on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Insert a wick pin through the base to create the wick hole, or thread a pre-waxed wick through the base wick hole and seal with mold sealer putty. Pour your melted pillar wax at the appropriate temperature for your wax type (60–68°C / 140–155°F for paraffin pillar; 55–60°C / 131–140°F for beeswax). Allow to cool fully at room temperature. Top up any sinkholes as the wax contracts. Once fully set, peel the silicone mold away from the candle — the one-piece design makes demolding especially straightforward. Trim the wick to 5–7mm and use a wick centering tool to keep the wick straight during cooling if needed.

What wax gives the best surface detail with this mold?
Beeswax and paraffin pillar wax both reproduce fine surface texture very well. Beeswax in particular captures the ridged scale detail sharply and has a natural honey tone that suits a shell aesthetic. Soy pillar blends work but may show slightly softer detail depending on the blend formula.

Does the wide shape make it harder to demold?
No — the silicone is flexible enough to peel away from the wide form without difficulty. Allow the candle to cool fully before attempting to demold. If the candle feels resistant, place it in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes to contract the wax slightly before peeling.

Can I add color to the wax?
