How to Use
Insert a wick pin through the base hole and seal with mold sealer putty. Stand the mold upright and pour melted pillar wax at 60–68°C. Allow to cool fully at room temperature. Top up any sinkholes with a second small pour. Once fully set, peel the mold away gently from the base upward. Trim wick to 5–7mm before first burn.
Frequently Asked Questions
What wax works best for these molds?
Hard paraffin pillar wax gives the sharpest detail and holds the animal shape cleanly. Beeswax also works well and gives a warm, natural finish. Avoid soft container soy or coconut wax — it won’t set firmly enough to hold the 3D form. If using soy, add 5–8% candelilla or beeswax to firm it up.
How much wax do I need?
The finished candle weights are a reliable guide: tiger, cat, and dog candles use approximately 41g of wax each; the dinosaur uses approximately 77.6g. Always melt slightly more than needed to allow for a top-up pour.
Are these suitable for gifts?
Yes — the floral animal designs make a lovely handmade gift, particularly the cat and dog molds which are popular for pet lovers. The dinosaur is a great choice for children’s gifts and novelty candles. Use colored wax and a light dusting of mica powder over the finished candle to enhance the detail.
Can I use these for soap or resin?
Yes — all four molds are compatible with cold-process soap, melt-and-pour soap, resin, and plaster. For resin, use a mold release spray before pouring for easier demolding.
