Choose Your Type

  • Round Nose Pliers (109 × 72.5mm) — Both jaws are smooth, tapered cylinders. Used for forming round wire loops, jump ring bails, ear wire loops, and coiled wire links. The essential loop-making tool for any wire jewelry kit.
  • Chain Nose / Needle Nose Pliers (118 × 74mm) — Flat tapered jaws with a serrated inner grip. The most versatile everyday jewelry plier — used for gripping wire ends, bending wire at angles, opening and closing jump rings, and finishing crimp beads.
  • Flat Nose Pliers (119 × 75mm) — Wider flat jaws with a serrated grip surface. Ideal for gripping flat components, straightening wire, making sharp 90° bends, and holding work steady while the other hand manipulates wire.
  • Diagonal Wire Cutters / Flush Cutters (119 × 86mm) — Angled cutting jaw for trimming wire ends flush and clean. Essential for finishing wrapped loops and cutting head pins, eye pins, and jewelry wire without leaving a sharp burr.
  • Bent Nose Pliers (120 × 69mm) — Jaws curve upward at an angle. Used for reaching into tight spaces, manipulating wire in confined areas, opening and closing jump rings at an angle, and detail work where straight-jaw pliers are awkward.

Which Pliers Do I Need?

  • Just starting out? The most essential trio is chain nose, round nose, and flush cutters — these three handle the majority of wire wrapping and bead work tasks.
  • Wire wrapping? Add flat nose pliers for holding work steady and bent nose for tight spaces and detailed wraps.
  • Making jump rings from scratch? You’ll want round nose (for coiling) and flush cutters (for cutting rings from the coil).
  • Working with chain? Two pairs of chain nose pliers are the classic combination for opening and closing chain links without marring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between chain nose and flat nose pliers?
Both have flat inner jaw surfaces, but chain nose pliers taper to a finer point — making them better for precision gripping, reaching into small spaces, and manipulating fine wire. Flat nose pliers have a wider, more rectangular jaw face that distributes grip pressure over a broader surface, which is better for holding flat components or making sharp bends without jaw marks digging into the metal.

Can I use these on sterling silver or gold-fill wire without marking it?
The serrated jaws on the chain nose and flat nose pliers can leave light jaw marks on soft wire if gripped very firmly. For a mark-free finish on precious metal wire, wrap the jaw faces with nylon jaw tape (sold separately) before use.

Are flush cutters the same as wire cutters?
Flush cutters are a type of wire cutter specifically designed to cut wire very close to the surface with a flat (flush) cut on one side, leaving minimal wire stub. Standard wire cutters leave a pointed, pinched cut on both sides. For clean professional finishes on jewelry wire ends, flush cutters are always preferred.

Can I buy all five as a set?
Each plier is sold individually — add each type separately to your cart to build the full set of five.
